Leaderacy Consulting Group, LLC was founded by Wayne Mechael Muhammad, a proven school turnaround specialist whose journey from “the projects to the principal’s office” reflects resilience, determination, and a lifelong commitment to education. With nearly 30 years of experience, Wayne has excelled as a teacher, principal, and educational leader, consistently driving transformational results in schools across the country.

As a Social Studies teacher, Wayne earned Tennessee’s prestigious Master Level 5 designation by achieving exceptional student outcomes—over 90% of his students passed the state TCAP exam for three consecutive years, far surpassing district averages. Since 2012, he has distinguished himself as an innovative school leader, guiding institutions like KIPP Memphis, National Heritage Academies, and Research Triangle Charter Academy to record enrollment, historic charter renewals, and renewed academic excellence.

Wayne’s expertise lies in leading schools through challenging transitions and restoring them to success. From Durham to Detroit, Indianapolis to Charlotte, he has spearheaded turnaround initiatives that re-established strong academics, improved culture, and inspired lasting change. He has also supported teachers and leaders at Robert Smalls Leadership Academy and Beaufort County Schools, and provided months of professional development for a cohort of beginning principals in Memphis-Shelby County Schools, extending his impact beyond individual schools to entire districts.

Beyond his direct leadership, Wayne is a nationally recognized public speaker. He has delivered keynote addresses and presentations at major conferences including the National Charter School Conference, Impacting Student Learning Conference, BOND Academy, and Teacher2Teacher Conference. His ability to inspire educators and leaders has made him a sought-after voice on equity, leadership, and student achievement.

A graduate of Fayetteville State University, Wayne has furthered his training through programs at KIPP, National Heritage Academies, and Harvard’s Race, Equity, and Leadership Institute. Beyond his professional work, he is a husband, father, and lifelong learner who continues to inspire audiences with his story and vision for educational excellence.
